Meet: Trista Noe Makeup Artistry

Each month in our Meet Series we introduce you to some of these creative entrepreneurs. In this series, we will get to know a little about the businesses these entrepreneurs have created and what drives them to be successful.

I want you to meet Trista of Trista Noe Makeup Artistry. She is a Southwest Ohio based on-site makeup artist that will blow you away. She couldn’t be sweeter in person and is so great to work with. How did you know you wanted to become a makeup artist and start Trista Noe Makeup Artistry?

I grew up in Ohio, but my Sophomore year of high school I moved to California and attended the Orange County High School for the arts. We had to take a stage makeup course as part of our curriculum and I feel like that was the moment I fell in love with doing makeup. After high school and some college classes, I started cosmetology school thinking that was the answer. I didn’t mind hair styling, but I really wanted to challenge myself with makeup.  I researched makeup schools and found one I loved in Las Vegas. After graduating from L Makeup Institute, I moved back to Ohio and worked for several different makeup companies before branching out on my own. It felt like a natural progression with my background to make it into my own business. You could say Trista Noe Makeup Artistry officially started in 2015.

This sounds kind of fun, how did you select your business name?

Maybe lack of creativity? JK! But for real, it’s just me, so it made sense to just use my name. I do bring assistance from time to time, but I want my business name to fully represent me. I like being able to control the quality and results of my work and make every client happy!

What sets Trista Noe Makeup Artistry apart?

People love that I do on-location services.  It makes it convenient whether you are a bride with a large bridal party or just one of my regular clients getting makeup done for family pictures. Either way, you can sit and relax in the comfort of your own home and I will bring everything to you.

What should someone know about getting on-site makeup done with Trista Noe Makeup Artistry?

It’s always important to have realistic expectations with makeup.  Makeup should be used to enhance your best features, but still look like you in the end.  If you are wanting to look like a completely different person, we can always discuss that at Halloween time. ;)

What advice would you have for brides on the day of their wedding?

I always suggest carrying a little packet of essentials; oil absorbing sheets, powder to help with the shine throughout the day, etc.   

I’ve seen your Instagram, you do more than just bridal makeup right?

Yes! I do a little bit of everything and I like it that way. I work regularly with a boudoir studio in Dayton and a senior photographer in Cincinnati.  I have relationships with several companies in the Columbus area and get opportunities to work with some big-name models. I’ve dabbled in some production work as well, but bridal is always a big part of my career.  

I love that. What would you say is a professional accomplishment you are proud of?

Definitely getting to the point where I could work for myself and still have time to spend with my family and friends.

That’s great, what’s your favorite part of running your own business?

I love that it’s a challenge every day.  I need that constant hustle that keeps me on my toes- never letting me get too comfortable.     

Where would you like your business to be in 3 years, in 5 years?

Oh gosh! I’m always thinking of new things and ideas. This year I will be trying my hand at education.  I plan to have classes for women who want to pump up their daily makeup routine. I would love to have my own makeup studio one day, but who knows!  

Give us a peek inside, what do you do on your days off?

If you follow me on Instagram you will see I love to draw!  I have ever since I was a kid. I also love reading, music, decorating my house, taking baths (lol), and spending time with my husband and kids.
