What to Include on a Wedding Website

Wedding websites are a great way to provide your guests with all the information they need about your wedding day in one location. But what exactly should you include on your wedding website? How exactly do you make it useful for your guests? We have you covered! 

Wedding websites have been around for a while. At this point, it is almost expected that every couple will have one. Guests are used to going online to find information about the venue, registry, and even to RSVP. But all wedding websites are not created equal. 

When you are creating your wedding website, keep your guest in mind. It is meant to be a helpful guide. You don’t want to leave them confused or hunting for valuable information. 

If you want your wedding website to be as helpful as possible, make sure it has all of these things: 

1. Date, time, and venue location.
   We know, this seems like a given. But don’t skimp on the details! Think beyond where to be and what time. Make your guest feel completely comfortable with the setup. What can they expect for parking? If you are offering a shuttle, make sure you include a copy of the schedule. Make sure they have the information to book in the hotel block. If you are having a brunch, after party, or some other event that guests are invited to attend - include that information as well. 

2. Wedding Attire
   Reiterate your dress code and share any helpful tips for out of town guests. If it will be chilly in the evenings or tends to rain a lot, let them know! This will be a huge help as they pack for the trip. This is especially useful for outdoor events that may be on the grass, advise them to wear chunky heels or wedges.

3. Local Travel Guide
   If you have out of town guests, include a section on your website that talks about some of your local favorites. Where can they grab breakfast? A good cup of coffee? Enjoy cocktail hour? Put yourself in your guest’s shoes. If they aren’t familiar with the area, having some recommendations will be a huge help. Plus, it will be fun for them to try out some of the places you love! If there are places that are significant to your relationship (like the restaurant you got engaged at) include those! That is a fun way to make it personal. 

4. Bridal Party
   Include a section about your bridal party. These are some of the most important people in your life, introduce them to your friends and family! Include a few pictures if you have them, how you met, how long you have known them, etc. 

5. Proposal Story/Get to Know You
   Everyone loves a love story! Plus your story says so much about you as a couple. I also encourage couples to give some personal details. Remember many guests will know one of you better than the other. This is a great way to help them get to know you a bit better. And don’t forget the engagement photos or a few fun pictures of you as a couple. Guests want to see you! 

6. Safety information. 
   In 2020, wedding websites have become even more important! Including a section about venue requirements and safety procedures for COVID is a great idea. It may help put anxious guests at ease.

Wedding websites can be a helpful tool for sharing information with guests. But they are only as helpful as you make them. Taking a little extra time to think through all the details your guests need will go a long way towards a smooth event!
