Kenwood Country Club | Haley and Michael | Cincinnati Wedding Planner
Hayley and Michael’s wedding at the Kenwood Country Club is everything I love about a wedding design - classic with a few colorful twists. You know I love a couple who doesn’t shy away from color! For Hayley and Michael, we decided to play around with red. Red is a powerful color and we wanted to use it to make a statement without it feeling overwhelming or out of place. By pairing it with a range of pinks, mauves, and burgandys we created a romantic and elegant design perfect for this couple.
Hayley and Michael had their ceremony on the lawn just off the first hole of the Kenwood Country Club and I knew we needed to take advantage of the beautiful backdrop. For the ceremony, their full chuppah framed an idyllic view of green hills and fall foliage. The front of the ivory chuppah was covered in red, burgundy, and mauve blooms and draped in a blush fabric. I love creating a focal point like this for my wedding designs. Installations are certain to be something your guests will remember and they are a great way to set your event apart.
I also loved what we did with the table settings for the reception. Textured, colored linens were combined with gold flatwares, chargers, and a floral patterned napkin. The floral centerpieces added height and incorporated the same red, burgundy, and mauve blooms that accented the chuppah at the ceremony. Adding candles in gold holders created warmth and tied the whole look together.
I’m a big fan of adding a menu to the table. It is a great way to tell your guests what they can expect for the evening and gives a tablescape an elegant feel. Haley and Michael’s incorporate the seal used on their invitation suite, adding symmetry to the whole look.
The devil really is in the details when it comes to your wedding design. The right balance of color, texture, and pattern adds depth and creates interest. While you might be tempted to opt for a solid color napkin or assume the texture of your linens won’t have a big impact, these are the details that take your look to the next level. In fact, Michael even commented that the napkins in this look pulled it all together! That is why we take such care in meticulously curating each part of our designs at SJE.
I loved working with Hayley and Michael and appreciated that they wanted to incorporate color into their wedding. The result was a fashion-forward look that still felt classic and refined.
Quotes from the Bride
“The SJE team was unbelievable. I was bragging about how when my bustle fell out you were hand sewing it in the coat closet. We loved having you there. We didn’t have to know anything and could enjoy things, you would just softly guide us through the day. One of our favorite moments of the day was the private moment that you created for us. It felt so good to spend 10 minutes alone with Michael and soak it up together. All of the collaboration for the past 2.5 years paid off! I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. You nailed it!”
