Michigan Coast Inspired Wedding | Peterloon Estate | Cincainniat Wedding Planner

Katie and Trey love to travel! They head West a couple of times a year and have big plans for an extended European vacation. But, one of their favorite spots in the world is Trey’s family cottage in Michigan.

Michigan is where Trey proposed and they dreamed of an intimate ceremony and reception along the lake. But a desire to include their friends and large families in Ohio made it logistically difficult. No problem! We brought the look and feel of the Michigan coast to their Cincinnati wedding at Peterloon Estate.

We used a warm, organic color palette, pops of modern accents, and summer-inspired textures to achieve our coastal-inspired look. The soft and welcoming atmosphere felt familiar drawing reference to the deep Northern Michigan sunsets and evenings by the lake with family and friends.

Katie and Trey really wanted their wedding weekend to feel easy and comfortable. So we focused on creating conversation areas and a homey environment. We wanted our design to be fun and memorable but most importantly, make guests feel like they could relax and really enjoy the day.

Their dog, Murphy, is a big part of their life. So we made sure to include him in photos during the day. It was a real full circle moment, he also made an appearance in their engagement session. We love when couples include pets on their wedding day. If you don’t feel comfortable having your dog at your wedding, there are plenty of other ways to give them a special nod. Maybe a signature cocktail named after them? Or include them in the cake topper! We can work with you to find the perfect solutions.

This couple is so in love and that came through in every part of the wedding day, even when the weather didn’t quite go as we planned. You can never predict the weather in Ohio, but they didn’t let a little rain get them down. We made the best of it and had a fantastic day. We absolutely loved celebrating these two!
