Hotel Covington | Anna & Sydney | Cincinnati Wedding Planner
I absolutely absolutely adore Anna and Sydney and their Hotel Covington Wedding was filled with so many special details. When I first started talking with Anna, she was a little nervous about the wedding planning process and I totally understand! It is easy to get overwhelmed with wedding planning - there are so many details to consider. But that is the great thing about hiring a wedding planner. I’m here to support you, be your advocate, and bring order to a chaotic process.
When Anna and Sydney first started chatting about their wedding, they were pretty set on a palette of blue, gold, and silver. But as I led them through the design discovery process, we found they were actually drawn more to black, white, and mixed metallics. I love it when clients lean into and trust the design discovery process. Sometimes your wedding style isn’t exactly what you thought. Be open to the design process, you might be surprised by what you find out about yourself!
Anna and Sydney got married on December 28th but they did not want to have a wedding that was overly seasonal. So we were trying to avoid both Christmas and New Year’s decor. Our palette of creams, ivories, grey, and black was perfect for winter but didn’t scream holidays. We incorporated a lot of modern, industrial accents that really played well with the aesthetic of Hotel Covington. I loved what we did with their ceremony installation. Instead of a traditional ceremony arch, we fixed florals asymmetrical to a black grid backdrop structure. It felt like a more modern take the ceremony arch.
I also loved all the special details that Anna and Sydney included to make their wedding day truly unique. Anna and Sydney met working for a corrugated cardboard company, so I wanted to incorporate that detail somehow. We ended up designing creating table numbers and the welcome sign with corrugated cardboard and the design team at the company was able to execute them. Instead of a traditional guestbook, they had their guest write out advice and well wishes. The advice cards were put into a beautiful wooden box with a bottle of wine. On their first anniversary, they will drink the wine and read the notes.
More and more couples are foregoing wedding favors since so many go to waste. A fun alternative is to donate money to honor someone special. So in lieu of favors, Anna and Sydney made a donation to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in honor of Anna’s mom who has Parkinson’s Disease. Oh, and their ceremony programs? Vellum paper layered over a picture of the Roebling Bridge where they got engaged. How personal!
Just like Anna and Sydney, there are so many ways for you to make your wedding day yours. From a non-traditional guestbook to decore details, don't be afraid to go for something a bit outside of the box. This is your day - get creative and make sure every detail reflects you and your spouse.
Anna and Sydney are my favorite type of couple to work with - fun, willing to take risks, and so in love. Their modern industrial wedding at Hotel Covington was a blast to design and I’m grateful they trusted me and the design process!
