Chicago Sailboat Engagement Session | Chicago Wedding Planner

Katie and Trey are an incredible Chicago-based couple so we wanted to start off their engagement shoot in style. We started on the beach for a few awesome shots of the gorgeous couple with their dog, Murph! Choosing to end their photos on a 34-foot yawl sailboat was intentional as their wedding is inspired by family summers spent in Northern Michigan.

Did you know that in addition to working with our couples to plan their perfect day, we also specialize in stepping in and organizing a stylized engagement session? Contact us to find out more!

THEIR STORY

Katie and Trey met almost 8 years ago at a bar in Oxford, OH while they were both Sophomores at Miami University.  We were sophomores at the time.  Katie actually thought Trey was someone else and kept calling him by the wrong name! Flash forward a few weeks and there was a date party for Katie’s sorority. All of her friends happened to be taking friends of Trey’s and through these mutual friends, they were set up! Shortly after they began dating and when Katie moved to Chicago after graduation, Trey followed and they moved in with one another in 2017.  In August 2020 they got their golden retriever puppy, Murphy.

THE PROPOSAL

In October 2020 the couple went up to Michigan for their annual fall trip. Katie was under the impression they were hiking to Pyramid Point with Trey’s sister, Corinne. When they reached the summit, Trey walked Katie to the edge and sneakily pulled out the ring.  Katie turned around and Trey was on one knee! Corinne was in the background taking pictures, and there was even a rainbow that appeared!

The couple went back into town to meet up with Trey’s parents for a celebratory drink and Trey had one more surprise up his sleeve - Katie’s parents were there!
