Amsterdam Inspired Wedding | Dayton Art Institute | Wedding Planner
Lindy and David’s Amsterdam-inspired wedding at the Dayton Art Institute truly felt like a night away in Europe. Heavily influenced by the charm of the Amsterdam streets, we created a color palette of rich blues, vibrant pinks, oranges, and yellows. The result was a rich and lively design that captured the spirit of the Dutch culture.
Since our design was Dutch-inspired, I knew I wanted to incorporate delft pottery in a fun and creative way. I worked with Paige Makes to create an amazing seating chart installation. A beautiful mosaic of delft pottery flanked with Dutch-inspired florals guided guests to their seats. It was a work of art all its own! We also got creative with table numbers, using blue tiles to mimic the look of pottery.
Lindy is a huge cat lover and we wanted to incorporate her cat, Puff, into their design. We created a signature drink named after Puff with a fun puff of cotton candy on top and made sure to include her in the bar sign. They also selected the cutest cat cake topper in her honor! It was from their trip to Thailand, where they got engaged shortly before the pandemic started. Remember, your wedding should have details that fully represent you. Don’t hesitate to make it personal!
One of my favorite things about this design was the use of color. We included pops of yellow throughout that brought such a feeling of lightness and fun to the whole look! I absolutely love when a couple plays with color for their cake design. Your cake doesn’t have to be traditional white, why not make it a statement piece?
From the Delft pottery to the vibrant colors to the Dutch-inspired florals - Lindy and David’s wedding perfectly captured the look and feel of the streets of Amsterdam. It has me daydreaming of European adventures and planning my next trip!
