Elegant Wedding at Green Acres by Samantha Joy Events

Amber and Brent’s wedding at Greenacres in Cincinnati was elegant, a bit non-traditional, and full of stunning details that left an impression.

Amber and Ben met during undergrad at the University of Kentucky. They were dance partners at a philanthropic event for their fraternity and sorority. They are both passionate about being in the medical field and their two adorable dogs, Boba and Chui.

As we started chatting about their wedding day, it became clear Amber and Brent wanted to create an experience for their guests. They weren’t super tied to any particular wedding day traditions but making sure everyone had a fun and memorable time was the priority. So we set out to design a wedding that would capture the wow factor they had in mind.

Amber and Brent love the warm weather, so an outside wedding during the summer was a perfect choice. After a beautiful ceremony, cocktail hour was set in the garden at Greenacres Art Center. We wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere where guests could chat and enjoy themselves. Creating pockets for conversation was something we did throughout the day, we also included a cozy seating area at the reception.

We absolutely adore a tent reception and this one was a real show-stopper. Amber envisioned a wedding full of florals so we worked with Roots Floral Design to create some beautiful installations and centerpieces. The tent draping in a soft pink was such a perfect detail. But, our favorite part of this design was the bar and DJ setup. The front of the bar was reflective, creating an interesting and unique focal point. We situated it directly in front of the DJ who was on an elevated platform overlooking the dance floor. Amber and Brent wanted to enjoy a night of dancing, so making this area a focal point made more impact.

While Brent and Amber weren’t super invested in the more typical wedding day traditions, they wanted to ensure they highlighted their families' stories. So, we incorporated things such as a string quartet playing some of their family’s favorite songs and included Latin cuisine on the menu. Amber opted for a stunning Spanish dress designer, Pronovias. The floral print was gorgeous. Amber’s brother also officiated, which was another sweet and personal touch.

There was so much to love about Amber and Brent’s wedding day. We loved watching them dance the night away on the dance floor. I’m always here for good Latin dancing!

Words from the Bride

I don't even know where to begin with writing this review... Samantha and her team exceeded my expectations in every aspect. I guess I will start from the beginning. My husband is actually the one who found Samantha Joy Events. He knows how easily anxious and stressed I can get and he wanted to minimize this as much as he could knowing I am a medical student and already had a lot on my plate. My husband is one to do extensive research on just about anything he buys, so I never second-guessed his recommendation to hire Samantha.
Samantha and her team began working on my wedding before I even had a date set or a venue picked out. Her hard work only continued to surprise me even more from there.
Like I said, I am very busy being a medical student and I was initially worried about the small details and choices I would need to make. Samantha and her team made this as easy as possible for me! They carefully crafted ideas and suggestions for me based off of questions I answered for them, or photos I had sent them.
I never worried about caterers, photographers, rentals, etc. She gave me a list of options every time and I picked from there.
I also want to mention how flexible she is. I know that she works very hard throughout the year for many other couples on their big day and she never once made me feel like I was less of a priority. My husband and I live in a different city than the venue where we had our wedding and Samantha made meetings easy through phone calls, emails, and video chats!
Come wedding day I had so many people tell me they were so surprised with how relaxed I was the day of. That's simply because I had no doubt in my mind that we were in good hands. She took the time to make sure every single detail was special for my husband and me. She even set aside special time for my husband and me to savor the day alone from the crowd.
If you are looking for a team to wow you in ways you didn't think were possible, I highly recommend Samantha Joy Events. My father has already started talking about hiring her for his 50th birthday soon, that's how much he loved working with them! - Amber
