Experience: Rove, Online Personal Styling

You know that feeling when you get invited to an event. At first it’s excited, followed by logic to think where you are actually available and then what does that mean to prepare for the event. Do I need to leave work early? Do I need to bring a gift? and then the outfit sets in. What do I wear?

For me that happens at every industry event. It has become standard for each invite to be paired with a wardrobe guide, which is super helpful don’t get me wrong. But when the dress code is “City Party Chic with Color in Mind” you kind of think twice about what is in your closet. I mean I love a good colorful outfit so I knew I had to have something but the party chic wasn’t exactly something I thought I had. Least of all when it is all animal print heavy

Here’s the Pinterest style guide that was provided:

After reviewing the Style Guide I knew I needed to turn it up a notch. I recently heard of a new online styling service call Rove. They can styling you from one item to the whole outfit. What caught my eye was that they can do styling for engagement session, as a wedding guest and as a family session. I’ve previously worked with a stylist to purge my closet and knew just how valuable that experience can be. While I’m looking for a new stylist I thought I would give them a try. Let me tell you about how great this experience was. If you are in a pitch, need a fast turn around or need help for special events, you need to check out ShopwithRove.com. The founder, Becca, created a space where Stylists are more accessible for all your needs.

For this event, my first outfit thoughts were that I wanted to try and still be me, and not invest too much in anything new that I might not get a lot of wear out of. I don’t wear a lot of animal print so investing in a piece was a bit iffy to me. But I have this great yellow suit that I thought I could use a piece or two to anchor the look. I also love wearing a pants suit. Dresses are a go to for women but there is something so fun and powerful about wearing a pants suit. Not to mention that I can use the pieces separately. I actually first found this suit when I sourced it for one of my Creative Direction clients.

I reached to to Rove to get started. They sent over a super a quick and easy questionnaire to get my thoughts, style and measurements. Then a day later I had the first round of ideas. You can see a preview of it below.

After some feedback we made our way to Round 3 options and I knew what I wanted to order. Scroll down to see some images from the event and what I eventually wore. Let me know how I did!

If you are looking for a quick stylist to take your look up a level I can’t say enough great things about ShopwithRove.com and will be using them again.
